Eastern Connecticut Warriors on a roll
As the regular season winds down in the next two weeks, all eyes turn to the conference races across the country, and of course to the inevitable questions of potential Pool C and Pool B candidates. We've started a Pool B discussion here, and will be talking more about Pool C in the coming days.

On Friday evening, No. 1 Trinity was a big 7-0 winner over Birmingham-Southern College. Patrick Floeck had four goals for the Tigers, who improve to 15-0. In the SCAC, Trinity remains in first place while Southwestern holds down the second position at 6-1. Centre College is in third place at 5-2. The SCAC has no conference championship and only Trinity is ranked in the latest NCAA regional poll. The complete NCAA region poll is listed in our Daily Dose.

No. 3 Montclair State moved to 17-0 and 8-0 in the NJAC with their 1-0 overtime win over No. 14 William Paterson, who falls to 12-3-2 and 5-2-1 in conference. Junior John Esposito had the game-winner for the Red Hawks, who clinched the NJAC regular season title and top seed in the upcoming conference tourney. After a first round bye, they will host a semi-final match on Tuesday, Nov. 4. Currently, WPU is in second place at 5-2-1, and Richard Stockton is in third place at 5-2. Stockton plays Kean this afternoon at 5:00 pm. Check out the complete Saturday schedule.

The No. 13 Eastern Connecticut Warriors at 11-1-3 are enjoying one of their best seasons in 25 years. Their current national ranking is the highest ever for the program and the Warriors have overcome a number of injuries to put together their longest unbeaten streak since a 15-0-0 start in 1969. The Warriors stretched their unbeaten streak to 13 matches this past week with a 1-0 win over the Coast Guard Academy and a 4-3 LEC win over Southern Maine. Eastern Conn goes on the road today to play LEC conference leader Rhode Island College, 4-0-1 and 9-4-3. The match begins at noon.

Elsewhere on Friday, No. 16 Washington University played No. 21 Dominican University to a 3-3 draw. The Bears remain tied for second place in the UAA with Rochester with 3-1 conference records. No. 6 Emory remains in first place and undefeated at 14-0 with their 4-0 win over University of the South. There is no conference tourney in the UAA, so the regular season champion receives the conference AQ. In the latest NCAA regional polls, Wash U is ranked 7th in the Central region, Rochester is ranked 3rd in the Northeast region, and Johns Hopkins is ranked 1st and Carnegie Mellon is ranked 3rd in the Mid-atlantic region.

Pool B candidate Chapman played Cal State East Bay to a 1-1 draw, moving to 11-4-1. The Panthers outshot East Bay 30-14 but could only get one off GK Kristopher Hall, who had seven saves in the match. Junior Alex Sewitz had the game-tying goal for Chapman.

And in a schedule change, No. 8 Carleton College travels to North Park University in Chicago for a 7:00 pm match tonight.
