York stays perfect on the year

It was a weekend full of action in men's and women's soccer. We'll update the various conference races throughout the day, but kicking off with the men, No. 2 York continues to lead the CAC, and will be the number one seed in the upcoming conference tourney. Mary Washington is 4-1-2 and has the second seed, while Salisbury is 5-2-1 and is third. The Sea Gulls played Mary Washington to a scoreless draw on Saturday, while York finished out the regular season with a 1-0 win over St. Mary's (Md.). Adam Good had the goal for the Spartans, who improve to 17-0 and 7-0.

No. 4 Hobart defeated RPI 2-0, remaining unbeaten on the season with a 14-0-2 overall record and 5-0-1 in Liberty League play, while the Red Hawks drop to 10-4-1 overall and 5-1. Elsewhere, No. 5 Middlebury played NESCAC foe Connecticut College to a 1-1 draw. With the tie, the Panthers stand at 9-1-2 and have locked up a NESCAC first-round match and will host on November 2nd. With a win, Middlebury would be the NESCAC top seed and host the conference semifinals and championship on Nov. 8-9.


No. 6 Wittenberg were 2-1 winners over Denison. Junior Ryan Ruef had the key goal for the Tigers, who move to 15-1 and 6-1 in the NCAC. Next up for Wittenberg is Ohio Wesleyan on October 29th. And No. 8 Carleton and CCIW power North Park played to a scoreless draw. The Knights move to 14-1-2, while North Park is 10-6-1.

No. 10 Stevens lost to Ithaca 2-1 in OT. With the loss, the Ducks end their 54 match conference unbeaten streak. Stevens is now 4-1-1 in conference, just behind the Bombers who are 4-0-2. Kurt Odenbach had the game winner for the Bombers who move to 9-2-3. Stevens falls to 13-2-2.

And in the NESCAC, Amherst defeated Williams 2-1. This was only the third win for the Lord Jeffs over Williams in the last 25 years. Freshman Jao Heo had the game winner for Amherst, who improves to 8-3-1 and 4-3-1 in the NESCAC. Williams falls to 7-4-2 and 4-3-1.
