Women's top teams stay strong
Away from the Williams/Amherst rivalry, there was plenty of action in women's soccer this weekend. All of the of the results are here, but Messiah and Arcadia were rained out and will play on Monday.

No. 3 Lynchburg remained unbeaten at 15-0-3 and 8-0-2 and the ODAC with a 2-0 win over Eastern Mennonite. Betsy Kwiatkowski had the game winner for the Hornets, who will start play in the ODAC tourney on November 1. No. 4 Calvin was an easy winner over Trine and has captured the top seed for the upcoming MIAA Tournament. The Knights will host Saint Mary's in a first round game on Saturday at noon. And No. 5 William Smith won their second straight Liberty League conference title with a 3-0 victory over Vasser College. Junior Megan Stevens has the game winning goal for the Herrons, who now are 12-1-3 on the season and 6-0-1 in conference play.

No. 6 Puget Sound continued their winning ways against No. 16 Whitworth, clinching at least a tie for first place in the Northwest Conference. With the 2-0 victory, the Loggers improve to 14-1 and 12-0 in conference play. The NWC has no conference tourney, instead opting for a schedule where each team faces each other twice. The regular season champ wins the NWC AQ. Whitworth remains in third place at 7-4-1 and 11-4-1 overall.

No. 8 UW Stevens Point fell to St. Thomas 3-2 in overtime. Cailee Osterman had the game winner for the Tommies, who handed the Pointers their first loss in 6 matches. They fall to 13-3 and 7-0 in WIAC play. The conference tourney begins on November 1. The Tommies would also make life difficult for No. 22 UW Eau Claire as the Blugolds could not close out their season with a win, settling for a scoreless draw. The Blugolds finish the regular season at 15-1-3.

No. 11 Washington University defeated No. 10 Rhodes 1-0 to run its home winning streak to 12 matches. Junior Caryn Rosoff scored for the Bears in the first minute of the match, who travel to No. 19 Rochester on Friday. The Bears are 4-0 in UAA conference play. Elsewhere, No. 15 Wheaton (Ill.) was upset by CCIW rival Illinois Wesleyan 2-1. It was just the third victory for the Titans in the 18 match series, who improve to 12-5. And No. 21 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps lost their third match in a row, falling to Cal Lutheran 1-0.
