KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Plattsburgh State junior back Bart Misiak (Mississauga, Ontario/St. Martin's Secondary) has received NCAA Division III All-America First Team accolades from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Misiak is one of just two defenders and 10 players overall to repeat on the 43-member all-start squad that includes three teams. A third-team choice as a sophomore, he also becomes the first Cardinal in four seasons (Jason Sousa from 2003 to 2005) to win multiple All-America citations and joins John McDonagh (1981-82) as the only two-time All-America defenders in school history. Complete NSCAA All-America Team
Misiak adds to an impressive trophy case of major awards this postseason, including NSCAA All-East Region First Team, State University of New York Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Eastern College Athletic Conference Upstate Defensive Player of the Year and first-team all-conference.
Misiak anchored a defensive unit in the SUNYAC that allowed the fewest shots on goal, ranked first with 10 shutouts, first in scoring defense (0.75 goals per game) and gave up only 18 goals in 20 contests.
All told, the Plattsburgh men's soccer program has produced 19 All-Americans (14 individuals) since 1969--the second-most in SUNYAC history behind Buffalo State's 20 awards.
