Daniel Webster Falls To Nichols, 3-1
Nashua, N.H. – The Daniel Webster men's soccer team jumped ahead early but Nichols College forged a late first half tie and added two second half scores to pull away and post a 3-1 victory in a regional matchup Tuesday in a game played at Rivier College's Raider Field.
Casey Doig's (Spofford, N.H.) header off a Scott Palmerino (Southbridge, Conn.) corner kick 4:08 into the second half proved to be the eventual game winner and Brendan Whitson added an insurance tally with 9:59 to play as the Bison (7-3-1) win for the fourth time in their last five outings.
Alex Jackson (Kent, Ohio) had put the Eagles (5-4) ahead converting on a penalty kick 9:22 into the contest, before Scott Coderre (Thompson, Conn.) would tie it tipping home the rebound of a Doig shot in the 24th.
Both teams managed 16 total shots but the Eagles finishing with a 12-10 shots on goal advantage.
Brendan Hamilton (N. Attleboro, Mass.) finished with 11 saves for Nichols while Joe Keene (Bristol, N.H.) made seven stops for DWC.
Daniel Webster visits Fitchburg State on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
