Adrian’s Aguilera, Alma’s Wallace Named MIAA Players of the Week in Men’s Soccer
ROYAL OAK, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Adrian forward Mitch Aguilera and Alma goalkeeper Graham Wallace its Players of the Week in men’s soccer for games played through October 8.
Offensive Player of the Week
Aguilera, a sophomore from Crown Point, Ind. (Boone Grove HS), played a key role in leading the Bulldogs to their first two MIAA wins of the season. He scored both goals in a 2-1 win over Olivet, a game that knocked the Comets out of a share of the conference lead. He also had two shots and put pressure on Trine’s back line in a 2-1 overtime win over the Thunder. Aguilera is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
Defensive Player of the Week
Wallace, a sophomore from Grand Rapids (Forest Hills Eastern HS), did not allow a goal in 200 minutes of play during the week as the Scots won one game and tied another. He made six saves in a 1-0 victory over Albion, then turned away seven shots, including a point-blank stop from 10 yards away, as he backstopped Alma to a scoreless tie with MIAA leader Calvin. Wallace is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
