Trine’s Webb, Hope’s Neil Named MIAA Players of the Week in Men’s Soccer
ROYAL OAK, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Trine midfielder Foster Webb and Hope goalkeeper Logan Neil its Players of the Week in men’s soccer for games played through October 29.
Offensive Player of the Week
Webb, a senior from Auburn, Ind. (DeKalb HS), scored two goals for the week as the Thunder won twice to lock up a berth in this weekend’s MIAA tournament. He scored the game’s first goal in a 4-0 victory over Olivet, and added another goal in a 2-1 overtime win over Adrian. He is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
Defensive Player of the Week
Neil, a senior from Holland (West Ottawa HS), did not allow a goal in more than 167 minutes of play for the week as he led the Flying Dutchmen to 3-0 victories over Adrian and Kalamazoo. The wins kept Hope alive for a possible share of the MIAA championship. Neil, who is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time this season and second time in his career, lowered his goals-against average in MIAA play for the season to 0.48.
