Methodist Men's Soccer Battles Ferrum to 0-0 2OT Draw
FERRUM, Va. -- The Methodist men's soccer team played to a 0-0 double-overtime draw with Ferrum on Saturday afternoon.
Despite holding an overwhelming 26-6 edge in shots taken and an 11-1 edge in corner kicks, the Monarchs (11-2-2, 3-1-2 US South) were held off the scoreboard for the first time all season in playing to their second draw of the year.
Ferrum's Justin Robinson made eight saves in goal for the Panthers, who improved to 7-8-2 overall and 1-4-2 in the USA South.
The Monarchs, who had scored 19 goals in their previous four games, held a decided advantage in shots taken in each period, including a combined 9-2 edge over the two 10-minute OT periods, but were unable to solve Robinson.
Pat Hamel made two saves in goal for the Monarchs, who have now held their opponents scoreless in three of the last four games and have yielded just two goals the entire month of October.
Methodist will now travel to Maryville (Tenn.) to take on the Scots tomorrow at 1:00 pm.
