New Paltz Men’s Soccer Plays to 0-0 Draw with Bard in Home Opener

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The story remained the same in the battle of undefeated teams on Tuesday afternoon as the State University of New York at New Paltz (3-0-4) and visiting Bard (4-0-3) played to a scoreless, 0-0 double-overtime draw at South Turf Field.

The Hawks outshot the Raptors 12-5 on the day, registering six shots on goal, as senior Kevin Alfaro (Bay Shore, NY/Brentwood), junior Gino Scardino (West Hempstead, NY/H. Frank Carey) and junior Ben Zilka (Levittown, NY/General Douglas MacArthur) all tallied two shots apiece to lead the New Paltz attack. New Paltz held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks as well.

Senior keeper Mark Nowak (Newburgh, NY/Marlboro Central) earned the starting nod in net, and went the distance, recording one save in the process.

New Paltz will remain at home this weekend, opening State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action, hosting SUNY Oswego on Friday, Sept. 23 at 3 p.m. before playing SUNY Cortland on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 1 p.m.
