Potsdam Tops Baruch 3-1 in Season Opener
The Baruch College Bearcats lost their season opener, 3-1, to SUNY-Potsdam in a highly-competitive contest on Friday afternoon at the Potsdam College Cup in upstate Potsdam, New York.
The host Bears scored the first two goals of the game in the 14th and 51st minutes to jump ahead, 2-0, but the visiting Bearcats pulled one back with rookie Cormac Foley scoring unassisted in the 69th minute.
The Bearcats pressed for the tying goal, but the Bears scored again in the 76th minute for a 3-1 advantage that put the match out of reach.
The Bears narrowly led in the shot category with a 10-8 advantage, but the Bearcats kept up the pressure to take seven corner kicks, compared to only two by the hosts.
The men's soccer team will return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. non-conference contest in the Potsdam College Cup against Plattsburgh State.
