John Wesley Upends Quakers, 4-2

HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Ricky Aguilar netted two second half goals for the Quakers, but John Wesley defeated Guilford, 4-2, on Saturday. GC fell to 0-7 and JWU improved to 3-3-1.

The Lions got on the scoreboard in the 16th minute after Bryan Gomez tallied off an assist by Jose Perez. The score remained 1-0 at halftime.

Gomez pushed the margin to 2-0 in the 51st minute on an unassisted score. Marco Diaz then netted a goal off a helper from Javier Chavez to make the score 3-0 in the 51st minute.

Aguilar scored for the visitors in the 71st minute. Jason Aguilar earned the assist on the play.

John Wesley scored in the 79th to move their lead to 4-1 after Angel Dominguez tallied off a pass from Adrian Gonzalez.

Ricky Aguilar ended the game's scoring in the 85th minute with an unassisted goal.

JWU led in shots (23-11) and corner kicks (4-2).

Zach Van Kampen started in goal for Guilford. He made five saves, allowed three goals and suffered the defeat. Michael McShane played the final 15 minutes. He allowed one goal and garnered two saves.

Tony Ramirez played the full 90 minutes for the Lions. He stopped two Quaker shots and earned the victory.

Guilford hosts Pfeiffer University on Monday (9/18).
