WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

(Games of October 25-30)

 

OFFENSIVE

Leslie Jones, F, So., Howard Payne

Howard Payne sophomore forward Leslie Jones (Mesquite, TX / North Mesquite HS) scored four of her team's seven goals over a 3-0 week, including the game-winner against conference opponent Schreiner. Jones, who takes the league's top weekly offensive award for the second time this season, scored two goals against Schreiner and the University of Dallas. Her play also helped the Lady Jackets secure a spot in the ASC tournament.

 

DEFENSIVE

Kassey Nix, D, Fr., Howard Payne

Howard Payne freshman defender Kassey Nix (Brenham, TX / BHS) spearheaded a unit that recorded three shutouts over a 3-0 week. Nix and company held Texas Lutheran, Schreiner and the University of Dallas to an average of just eight shots per game. Nix's play helped the Lady Jackets lock up a berth in the ASC tournament.

 
 

OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES:

OFFENSE: Mary Hardin-Baylor MF Taylor Bullock scored game-winning goals against both Schreiner and Texas Lutheran. . . LeTourneau MF/F Amanda DeLeon had a goal and an assist in a win over McMurry. . . . Schreiner F Amanda Moon forced overtime with a goal against UMHB. . . . Mississippi College MF Roni Salens scored the team's only goal over a 0-1-1 week. . . . Hardin-Simmons MF Katie Kuykendall had two goals and two assists over a 2-0 week that sealed the outright regular season title. . . . Concordia Texas MF Axita Peel had one goal and one assist over a 1-0-1 week that sent the Tornados to the ASC tournament. . . . Texas-Dallas F Leah Bowyer scored the game-winner in a 2-0 match with Ozarks.

DEFENSIVE: Concordia Texas D Lauren Browning anchored a unit that allowed just one goal over a 1-0-1 week. . . . Texas-Dallas D Elizabeth Sohns recorded her first career shutout in a win over Ozarks. . . . Hardin-Simmons GK Rebecca Roth made one save over two shutouts. . . . Mary Hardin-Baylor D Camryn Powell led a group that surrendered just two goals over a 2-0 week. . . . Louisiana College GK Emily Breaux made 43 saves over two losses and ends the season as the ASC's all-time single season saves leader with 326.
