Klusek scores twice as No. 25 Ohio Northern tops Mount Saint Joseph 4-1

ADA — Freshman Kristina Klusek scored two goals and added an assist to lead the No. 25 Ohio Northern women's soccer team to a 4-1 win over Mount Saint Joseph Wednesday afternoon at the ONU Soccer Field.
With the win, the Polar Bears are now unbeaten in their last six matches and are 6-1-2, while the Lions fall to 1-8-1.
Klusek put Northern on the board first in the fourth minute when she took a pass from sophomore Lauren Brown and beat the goalie.
Junior Tara Tokar put the Polar Bears up 2-0 in the 33rd minute when she rocketed a shot from 15 feet and put it in the net.
Klusek's second goal put Ohio Northern up 3-0 when freshman Sandra Thorarensen sent a cross that Klusek headed in. Also picking up an assist on the play was senior Alyssa Merrick.
The Lions would respond in the 62nd minute on a breakaway goal by junior Tyler Hudapohl.
Thorarensen would finish off the scoring in the 81st minute by heading in a rebound off of a Klusek shot. Freshman Fran Federle also picked up her first assist of the season on the play.
"Today was a good win," said head coach Mark Batman. "We played well and made good adjustments to the conditions in the second half. We are moving on to Mount Union as a very confident team."
Northern outshot Mount Saint Joseph by a 23-4 margin.
Junior Erin Waehner picked up her sixth win of the season by making one save.
Ohio Northern will be in action again on Saturday when they travel to Alliance to face off against OAC foe Mount Union at 1 pm.
