Hope’s Jipping, Schmidt Named MIAA Players of the Week in Women’s Soccer
ROYAL OAK, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Hope midfielder Erin Jipping and Hope sweeper Courtney Schmidt as its Players of the Week in women’s soccer for games played through October 8.
Offensive Player of the Week
Jipping, a freshman from Holland (West Ottawa HS), scored three goals, including the go-ahead goal and an insurance tally in the second half, as the Flying Dutch defeated Kalamazoo, 4-2, to remain in the thick of the MIAA race. Jipping is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
Defensive Player of the Week
Schmidt, a freshman from Lowell (Lowell HS), anchored the Hope defense as the Flying Dutch remained three points behind conference leader Adrian in the MIAA race with wins over Kalamazoo, 4-2, and Saint Mary’s, 2-0. Schmidt is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
