Adrian’s Barker, Trine’s Wall Named MIAA Players of the Week in Women’s Soccer

ROYAL OAK, Mich.  – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Adrian forward Sam Barker and Trine goalkeeper Jen Wall its Players of the Week in women’s soccer for games played through October 1.

Offensive Player of the Week

Barker, a sophomore from Temperance (Bedford HS), scored three goals in leading the Bulldogs to a pair of MIAA wins that moved Adrian within one point of first place in the conference race. She scored both goals in a 2-1 victory over Hope, then scored the go-ahead goal with just over 10 minutes remaining as Adrian defeated Calvin, 3-1, the first time the Bulldogs had defeated the Knights in nine years. Barker is being honored as Player of the Week for the second time this season and third time in her career.

Defensive Player of the Week

Wall, a senior from New Haven, Ind. (New Haven HS), earned Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second straight week as she turned away 11 shots in a scoreless tie with Alma. It was the first time the defending MIAA champion Scots had been shut out this season. Wall is being honored as Player of the Week for the third time in her career.
