Austin College Women Top LeTourneau Late
The Austin College women's soccer team dominated throughout the game but needed a goal by Lauren Scott in the 87th minute to top visiting LeTourneau University 2-1 on Friday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 1-1 on the year with the victory.
The 'Roos went on the attack early but were unable to strike until Kelsey D'Amore headed home a corner kick by Ariel Marder to make it 1-0 in the 40th minute of action, and that's how things would stay through halftime. In the second half the Jackets tallied on just their fourth shot of the game off the foot of Maggie Judd to make it 1-1 at the 69:43.
Just as the game appeared to be headed into overtime however, D'Amore found Scott, who punched home a shot while falling to the ground to give the 'Roos the narrow victory. Austin College owned a 30-4 shot advantage in the game.
The 'Roos are back in action on Sunday when they host East Texas Baptist University at 12:00 p.m.
Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
