Devil Women Blank Altoona 4-0
(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson College women's soccer team scored twice in each half, improving to 3-0 on the season with a 4-0 win over visiting Penn State Altoona on Wednesday night.
Sophomore Allie Young (New Canaan, Conn./St. Luke's) broke through the defense to put the Devils on the board, 15:23 into the game. First-year Jenna Lamb (Fairfax, Va./Robinson Secondary) tallied her fourth goal of the season, scoring off an assist from Olivia Licata (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands) with 16:31 remaining in the half.
Junior forward Rosalin Savoie (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) found the back of the net, finishing a cross from sophomore Cate Maugle (Glenmoore, Pa./Owen J. Roberts), ten minutes into the second half, to stretch the lead to 3-0.
Licata capitalized on a great run and a beautiful pass from Ashley Fields (Far Hills, N.J./Ridge) just 40 seconds later to finish things off for the night.
The Devils unleashed 38 shots on the night, holding the Lions to just one shot, saved by starting goaltender Liz Cassin (Summit, N.J./Summit). First-year Charlotte Armour (New Haven, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall) played the second half, securing the shutout with strong play from the Red Devil defense.
The Devils held a 16-1 edge in corners while Altoona goalkeeper Mackenzie Strubhar played outstanding in goal, making 20 saves for the Lions.
The Red Devils improve to 3-0 on the season. They travel to Wilkes University on Sunday for a 12:00 pm start.
