Division III men's soccer tournament history

The first Division III men's soccer championship was held in 1974. UNC Greensboro was a dominant force in the 1980's before moving up to Division II and then Division I. In the new millennium, Messiah has set a new standard, winning a record eleven championships, ten coming in a dominating 14-year run from 2000 to 2013. In recent years, Tufts has reigned supreme, claiming four of the last six titles to become the ninth program with multiple titles and just the third program with four or more championships. Tufts also are the fourth NESCAC program to win the championship, matching the NJAC. No other conferences have had more than two different men's national champions in the 46-year history of the tournament.
