Two Goals, Two Shutouts, Two Wins for the Warhawks
Two-for-two. UW-W improved to 2-0-0 this season with a shutout of Edgewood College Friday night at Fiskum Field in Whitewater. The Warhawks scored two goals in the first half en route to the 2-0 victory, their second shutout of the season. Edgewood falls to 0-2-0
Xander Lien (Pewaukee/Arrowhead) found Sam Kuchenreuther (Brown Deer/Brown Deer) in the 34th minute to give the Warhawks a 1-0 lead. Less than ten minutes later Kody Mjelde (Baraboo/Baraboo) scored on a tip from Kyle Sundby (Verona/Verona) after a corner kick from Jordan Kayser (Elkhorn/Elkhorn).
The 2-0 lead held through the half, and the game, as the Warhawks went on to outshoot the Eagles 20-7. Edgewood did not record one shot on goal in the match, therefore UW-W goalkeeper Josh Rohde (Waukesha/Waukesha West) did not have to make a save in his second win of the season.
Just like the Warhawks first game of the season, head coach Tony Guinn, played twenty-six players in the match.
The Warhawks will take a break until September 14 when they host Wartburg in a match at 2 pm at Fiskum Field.
