Nichols rolls past Becker
Junior Chris Noga notched a hat trick as the Nichols College men's soccer program defeated Becker College 5-0 in non-conference action Tuesday night at Alumni Field in Leicester, Massachusetts.
Noga got the Bison (6-2-1) out to a quick two-goal lead in the first 15 minutes with assists from senior Gregory Giglio and sophomore Nick Cancellaro. Right before halftime, freshman James Chasco-Dimauro was able to fire home a goal to put the Bison up by three (2-7-0).
In the second half, sophomore Ali Ali netted his third goal of the season with an assist from Noga. Less than one minute later, Noga buried his third goal of the game to give the Bison the 5-0 advantage. The Bison went on to shutout the Hawks in a strong defensive effort.
Three things you need to know…
-With seven points in today's match, Noga tied assistant coach Scott Coderre for second all-time in most points scored in a match. Coderre also scored seven points at Becker on September 11, 2012.
-Noga also became only the fourth student-athlete to score three goals in a game in program history. The last was Zachary Lemire in 2015.
-Senior Patrick Porpora, junior Juan Carlos De La Cruz, and freshman Clark Vigue all played in net and combined to notch the program's fourth shutout of the season.
"We played organized and focused today. The boys were ready to work hard after last year's upset, and it showed in the opening minutes with Noga burying two great shots. We now change our focus to the Homecoming match against defending CCC champions Endicott this Saturday." –Nichols head coach Chris Traina
