5 Herons garner NSCAA All-East Region honors

Five Herons earned a spot on the 2013 NSCAA/Continental Tire All-East Region teams. Senior goalie Chelsea Dunay, senior defender Olivia Zitoli and junior midfielder Dineo Mmutla were named to the first team. Junior midfielder MaryClaire Pelletier garnered a spot on the second team and first-year forward Kara Shue was selected to the third team.

Dunay, the Liberty League Co-Defensive Player of the Year, collected all-region honors for the first time in her career. She ranks second in the nation with a 0.28 goals against average and fourth with a .910 save percentage. Dunay has posted a new William Smith record for wins in a season with a 21-1-0 record in goal this year. She turned aside a season-high seven shots twice this year, once in a 2-0 win over then No. 16 Skidmore. The all-conference first team selection has also notched a Heron season record with 16 shutouts this year.

Dunay, who garnered All-Liberty League honorable mention in 2012, has played in 52 career matches and has logged a 0.38 career goals against average and a .888 career save percentage. Her career record in goal stands at 36-3-4. Dunay has posted 26 career shutouts.

The Liberty League Player of the Year, Zitoli, is also making her first appearance on an all-region team. The unanimous all-conference first team honoree anchors the Heron defense. William Smith tied a Heron season record with 19 shutouts this year. William Smith has notched 14 straight shutouts and has allowed just six goals all season. The Herons lead Division III with a .864 shutout percentage and rank second with a 0.27 goals against average. Zitoli produced the game-winning goal in the win over the Thoroughbreds.

In 83 career games, Zitoli has posted three goals and an assist for seven career points. She was named to the 2013 Liberty League All-Tournament Team and earned all-conference second team honors in 2012.

A Liberty League first team selection, Mmutla has registered three goals and two assists for eight points this season. She notched the game-winning goal 52 seconds into overtime for a 1-0 win at Vassar and scored in the 65th minute to secure a 1-0 win over No. 7 Ithaca in the NCAA tournament sectional championship match, clinching a spot for the Herons in the national semifinals. Mmutla added a goal and an assist in a 5-0 win over Cabrini in an NCAA tournament first round match.

The MVP of the 2013 Liberty League tournament and 2011 All-East Region second team selection, Mmutla has played in 45 career games. She has tallied 15 goals and nine assists for 39 career points. Mmutla was also named the Liberty League Rookie of the Year and earned all-conference first team honors in 2011.

A Liberty League first team selection, Pelletier has registered a career-high five goals and five assists for 15 points this season. She earned all-region accolades for the first time. Pelletier produced the game-winning goal in victories over Fredonia State and Clarkson during the regular season. She scored the game winner in the 33rd minute in an NCAA tournament second round victory over Oneonta. Pelletier has also chipped in two assists so far in the NCAA championship.

In 60 career games, Pelletier has notched five goals and six assists for 16 career points.

The Liberty League Rookie of the Year and first team honoree, Shue has posted a team-high nine assists this year. She has added six goals to rank second on the team with 21 points. Shue notched a season-high six points on two goals and two assists in a 6-2 win over Stevens. She added four points, including the game-winning goal, in a 3-0 victory over Pitt-Bradford. Shue chipped in the game winner in a 5-0 win over Cabrini in an NCAA Championships first round match.

The No. 3 Herons will be back in action on Friday, Dec. 6, when they take on Capital in an NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship national semifinal match at noon EST.
