Women's Soccer Defeats Bears for First Win of Season
COCHRAN, GA - The Knights came from a goal down early in the second half to get their first win of the season against the Truett McConnell University Bears by a score of 2-1 and are now 1-3 on the season. The Knights got goals from Natalie Skorupa in the 65th minute and the game-winner from Hannah Theriault in the 69th minute for the 2-1 victory. GK Ronja Andersson had 6 saves for the Knights in the win.
The Knights and Bears played the first 45 minutes to a tie at half time as Andersson saved 3 shots in the first half with the Bears keeper needing just one save in the first half. The Bears struck first in the second half as Marissa Harkins scored on a corner kick from Tori Wilson just 2:54 into the second half. The Knights kept fighting and Skorupa scored her 1st goal of the season (2nd of her MGA career) in the 65th minute on a corner kick from Ciara Boal. It took just 4 minutes for Reagan Hyde to return a pass from Theriault which set up Theriault for the game-winner.
The Knights host Point University on Friday, August 31 at 5PM and Thomas University on Sunday, September 2 at 1PM as they try to keep the momentum going.
