St. Thomas women advance with 1-0 win over Knox
Junior Kaley Roberts scored in the fifth minute, assisted by Malory DeBoom, and No. 16-ranked Tommie Women's Soccer scored a 1-0 win over Knox (Ill.) College in Saturday's first-round game at La Crosse, Wis.
Olivia Elvidge had four saves in goal for the Tommies (19-2). UST had an 11-4 advantage in shots on goal and a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.
The Tommies are in the NCAA playoffs for the third year in a row and in the round of 32 for the second consecutive season. They will play Sunday at 1 p.m. here against host UW-La Crosse, a 2-0 winner over Wartburg.
Tommie Women's Soccer has won its last 61 games when it scores first.
